Julia Martin is the General Manager Health, Safety and Environment (HSE). The HSE team provides a range of activities and services dedicated to protecting the well-being of Chevron’s people, assets and environment.
Joining Chevron in 2006, Julia held a range of leadership positions with the Greater Gorgon asset for nine years before heading to San Ramon, USA for a 3 ½ year assignment where she held joint positions of General Manager HSE Technology for Chevron’s Energy Technology Company, and General Manager for Environment and Climate Change for Chevron’s Operational Excellence/HSE Center.
In this role, Julia was responsible for leading development of Chevron’s enterprise-wide environmental strategies. She is also a Vice-Chair of IPIECA Board of Directors, and a former member of the RAND Corporation Justice, Infrastructure and Environment Advisory Board.
Throughout her 30+ year career in the resource sector, Julia has held diverse roles including research scientist, oceanographer, environmental and business risk management consultant and HSE leadership positions in several oil and gas companies. Her experience includes assignments in Australia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, the Philippines and the USA.
Julia has a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science (Honours) in Earth Sciences from the University of Waikato, New Zealand; a Master of Environmental Law from The University of Sydney, Australia; and a Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Science and Natural Resource Management from The Australian National University.
