Chevron Australia is joining long-term environmental partner, Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA), to launch a new photography competition which aims to increase awareness and showcase Australia’s unique local species and ecosystems.

Open to everyone, with categories for both adults and juniors, Chevron Nature in Focus includes three thematic areas:

  • Oceans, Wetlands and Rivers - from the depths of the oceans teeming with marine life to the tranquil beauty of wetlands and the meandering flow of rivers, this category celebrates the vital role these environments play in our world.
  • Sustainability - explore and capture the essence of sustainable living, practices, and innovations. Celebrate human efforts in striving for a balance with nature that ensures the well-being of our planet for future generations.
  • Species and Habitats - explore and capture the beauty, diversity, uniqueness, and importance of Australian native species and their habitats.

The competition expands on the ‘Chevron Focus Environment Photography Competition’, which has inspired school-aged kids in Western Australia for over 18 years.

Chevron Environment Team Lead Hannah Brown said she was excited to build on the success of the WA competition.

“Through partnering with CVA, we’re able to expand the competition nationally, increase access to all ages and abilities, and importantly highlight Australian nature, conservation efforts and sustainability,” she said.

Winners will share in a pool of cash prizes, with awards for a range of categories including Kindergarten-Y2, Y3-6, Y7-12, adult smartphone and adult professional. Successful students will also win a Nature Block package for their school, including a gift voucher for a local nursery.
