50 years of chevron city to surf for activ

It was a 50th birthday celebration like no other, with tens of thousands of people taking part in the Chevron City to Surf for Activ on Sunday, and even more joining the party at the finish line!

This year’s special event saw 24,000 people walk, run, and roll the 4km and 12km courses, raising more than $390,000 (and counting) for Activ Foundation. People young and old marked 50 years since the first Chevron City to Surf for Activ in 1975.

Activ Chief Executive Officer Clare Amies and Chevron Australia Managing Director Mark Hatfield kicking off the event at the 4km start line.

“There definitely was a celebratory vibe from start to finish today – everyone was raring to go, there was lots of fun on the course, a great show of support between fellow participants, and plenty of laughter along the way,” Activ Chief Executive Officer Clare Amies said.

“The Chevron City to Surf for Activ is the biggest fundraiser for Activ Foundation, with all funds raised going directly into improving the lives of West Australians living with disability,” she said.

“We have already earmarked the funds raised to revamp two of our specialist disability homes in WA, which will create more open and connected lifestyles for the customers who live there – we can’t wait to take you on the journey of these makeovers to show you exactly how your involvement is improving lives.”

Chevron Australia Managing Counsel and Team Chevron Captain Peter McNally congratulated Activ Foundation on the milestone celebration and the incredible impact of the event over the years.

“Since our partnership began in 2010, we’ve seen the significant impact Activ Foundation has in our community, and we’re proud to support their efforts.

“The event brings to life our shared values of diversity and inclusion and is embraced by our workforce, with more than 1, 600 Team Chevron employees and family members participating and fundraising this year.

“Beyond the event, our partnership extends to support the vital services provided by Activ, improving the lives of those living with disability in Western Australia.”
Ms Amies passed on a huge thanks to event sponsors Chevron Australia, the City of Perth, Town of Cambridge, Channel 7, Nova 937, Spudshed, eniQ, and Instant Toilets & Showers.

“We couldn’t put on such an incredible event every year without their support and are truly thankful for their partnership in bringing such an incredible event to Perth for all to enjoy."
