Chevron Australia, along with the Gorgon joint venture partners, are proud to extend their partnership with Stars Foundation, reinforcing their shared commitment to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and young women across Perth and the Pilbara region in Western Australia to pursue educational success and career pathways.

Stars Foundation provides a holistic mentoring program that supports students to attend and remain engaged at school, complete year 12 and transition into further study or employment.

Jamie, a graduate of Girrawheen Senior High School and a former Stars student, illustrates the transformative impact of this partnership.

Overcoming personal challenges, Jamie became the first in her family to complete Year 12.

"Stars has been my pillar of support throughout high school. Having Mentors like Jade and Lou has made all the difference. They helped me believe in myself and explore new opportunities."

Andrea Goddard, Founder and CEO of Stars Foundation said, "We are thrilled to extend our partnership with the Gorgon Project, which plays a crucial role in our efforts to bridge educational disparities for Indigenous girls.

"This funding and workforce engagement allows us to continue our programs in the Perth and the Pilbara region, empowering more young women like Jamie to achieve their full potential."

The extended partnership will continue to support Stars program schools in the Pilbara region, including three in Karratha and one in Roebourne, alongside nine school Stars programs in Perth.

The program not only focuses on academic support but also offers career guidance, workplace visits, and industry exposure facilitated by partners including Chevron.

This exposure to various career paths within the energy sector aims to inspire and equip young Indigenous girls and women for the workforce of tomorrow.

As Chevron and the Gorgon Joint Venture renew our commitment to Indigenous education and employment, we reaffirm our dedication to creating a more inclusive and equitable future.

This partnership not only addresses educational disparities but also builds a foundation for long-term social change and economic empowerment within Indigenous communities.

Chevron’s Production Manager for the Gorgon Project, Ian Downey emphasised the significance of the partnership extension.
