our economic contribution
As our Western Australian operations transform us into one of the leading liquified natural gas suppliers, we believe we have an important role to play in helping the State thrive and prosper.
Our development of the Gorgon and Wheatstone natural gas projects, together with our other activities in Australia, are creating enduring benefits that will help shape Australia’s economic future.
We work closely with governments, non-government organisations (NGOs) and community leaders to identify and prioritise areas of greatest community need. Then we create innovative solutions to deliver measurable and enduring value.
Our partnerships serve to deliver long-term social and economic benefits, create prosperity and improve quality of life now and for generations to come.
improving the lives of burns injury patients
Chevron Australia has partnered with the Fiona Wood Foundation since 2013, investing in cutting edge research, education and training in burn care technology to revolutionise treatment methods and improve health care outcomes for people affected by burns injuries.
Chevron is also helping the Fiona Wood Foundation facilitate a community education program, raising awareness of burn care and prevention by teaching suitable first aid and safety measures.
supporting access to heart health programs
We’re proudly partnering with the Heart Foundation WA to deliver the Pilbara Aboriginal Heart Health Program, providing heart health education and care for Aboriginal people in the West Pilbara.
When developing the program, the Heart Foundation spent 10 months visiting the West Pilbara, building genuine relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, their families and the broader community.Today, the program services the communities of Karratha, Roebourne and Onslow, focusing on areas of physical activity, nutrition, healthy cooking and food label reading, to raise awareness of heart attack warning signs and risk factors.
helping kids hear and speak
We’ve been partnering with Telethon Speech & Hearing since 2011 to develop a best practice model of ear care health for the Pilbara, preventing middle ear disease and improving child health.
Through our partnership, we’re helping children with speech, language or hearing impairments learn to listen and speak, ultimately improving their school readiness and learning outcomes.

Our community partnership empowers educators and inspires students to enjoy and engage with STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and the exciting career paths it can lead to in the oil and gas industry.
Our partnership provides funding for three programs:
- Pilbara Teacher Support Program which supported 13 schools in 2017 from the Karratha Schools Network in delivering more than 170 STEM learning activities
- Beyond the Beaker which aims to raise awareness and encourage participation amongst secondary students in STEM subjects
- Aboriginal Education Program focuses on engaging Aboriginal school-aged children from remote locations to engage in STEM education
